

About Dr.Chandika Wewelwala
Dr.Chandika Wewelwala is a highly skilled specialist breast and general surgeon working at Monash health. He joined Monash health as a junior doctor in 2010 where he completed his accredited surgical training. He was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2019.
Following this, he completed two further years of subspecialized training under BreastSurgANZ, the peak body governing accreditation and training of breast surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. He worked at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand during his first year of post-fellowship training. This experience provided him with excellent exposure to various breast surgeries as well as a wide range of general surgical procedures, such as hernia repair and gallbladder surgery. He also developed skills in managing a variety of skin cancers during this period.
Dr. Chandika Wewelwala then returned to Monash Health as a breast surgical oncology fellow to complete accredited training in breast surgery, gaining expertise in complex breast surgical procedures. He was subsequently appointed as a consultant breast and general surgeon at Monash Health upon completing his training.
Dr. Chandika Wewelwala has regular operating lists at Waverley Private Hospital, Mulgrave Private Hospital, and St John of God Berwick Hospital, where he offers individualized care. Dr. Chandika Wewelwala specializes in two main areas of expertise: Breast Surgery and General Surgery. Please refer to the range of operations he performs.
